USEFUL IN POULTRY/AQUA/CATTLE
Sunflower pellets can be used as a source of protein and fiber in animal feed.
Sunflower meal is a good source of protein for poultry rations, usually as a partial replacement for soybean meal. Sunflower meal has a protein content of between 29-30% and a crude fiber content of 27-31%. It also contains lignin (9-12%) and lysine (3.5%).
Sunflower meal is comparable with soybean meal in chemical composition. However, its lysine content is relatively low, so lysine supplementation is required in laying hen diets containing over five percent sunflower meal. Some studies have reported that the use of 10% and more sunflower meal in broiler diets negatively affected the growth performance. However, other studies have reported that sunflower meal can be used up to 20% in growing quail diets without negatively affecting performance
